Apraava Energy understands and acknowledges the dangers posed by climate change and has crafted programs for communities to address this issue. These initiatives include soil and water conservation, stop crop residue burning, biodiversity conservation, tree plantation and sustainable energy interventions.
Key Initiatives
CII Foundation and Apraava Energy are working closely on the ground to address the issues of air pollution with the farmers to be aware, train, and adopt sustainable farm practices. This is a multi-stakeholder project by engaging each group of society, government agencies, and technical partners together.
Apraava Energy works closely on the ground to address the issues of air pollution by implementing Crop Residue Management programme in a few districts of Haryana. The programme spreads awareness on ‘zero stubble burning approach’ by working closely with farmers’ clubs and aiming to bring about behavioural changes and motivates them to adopt technological tools.
Key interventions included provision of technological tools bank, behavior change training and exploring locally relevant ex-situ options for straw management.
Apraava Energy addresses the issue of water scarcity and creation of water harvesting structures and related activities in villages of Ahmednagar and Beed districts in the state of Maharashtra. The programme has led to improvement in water security and livelihood, creation of water storing capacity and generation of local employment.
Through the Integrated village development initiatives, Apraava builds long term water security in communities across company’s wind, solar and coal plant in Sidhpur, Samana, Mahidad, Jath, Theni, Sakri, Veltoor and Jhajjar. Water initiatives include construction and repair of farm ponds, check dams, de-siltation, rainwater harvesting structures and strengthening of drinking water infrastructure.
Apraava has planted over 130,000 trees across business catchments in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, that shall sequester 2.6 million+ kgs of carbon upon maturity, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability. Through tree plantation efforts, more than 8,500 women have directly benefited, underscoring our commitment to gender inclusivity. This initiative plays a pivotal role in habitat restoration for endangered wildlife, reinforcing our dedication to biodiversity conservation.
